Parents alive, but kids sent to orphanage
GURGAON: Soon after a woman filed a complaint against the child welfare committee (CwC) chairperson for ordering her two children to be sent to an orphanage despite their parents being alive, deputy commissioner T L Satyaprakash has formed a panel to look into the matter.
According to CwC, the children were sent to a shelter home for orphans after the committee received serious allegations against their mother.
“The children were residing with their mother. However, on their father’s complaint, we counselled the children and found out that they were unsafe living with their mother, who also had a male friend living in the same house as the kids. The childen have told us many shocking things including that they were forced by their mother’s friend to drink alcohol. The girl child told us that she was also being sexually abused by him,” said Shakuntala, chairperson of CwC. The committee later gave the custody of the children to their father who lives in Rohtak.
The mother has, however, refuted the allegations.
