Son gets visa to attend father’s last rites

KARNAL: With the intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Abhay Kaul, who is living in the US, has got visa to attend his father’s last rites here.

Karnal, October 12

With the intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Abhay Kaul, who is living in the US, has got visa to attend his father’s last rites here.

Abhay’s family members said that he had left for India and would be here on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday and the cremation would take place in the afternoon on Friday.

Sarita Takru, a resident of Model Town, had urged the minister on Twitter yesterday to help her son get a visa to attend the last rites of his father Vinod Kaul, who died on October 10.

Citing the reasons, she said that due to Dasehra and Muharram, the Embassy in the US would remain closed for two days which would delay the visa process. Reacting to her tweet, the minister directed the Embassy to give visa to Abhay. — TNS
