Chandigarh, October 12
The Department of Home Affairs, Punjab, has submitted a fresh panel of three Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGP) –rank officers to the Election Commission (EC) today.
The EC will select an officer from among the names to be attached as a nodal officer with the EC to help the commission conduct free and fair Assembly elections in the state. The EC had sent back two panels submitted to it earlier. Sources said the state Home Department had recommended names of ADGP BK Uppal, VK Bhanwra and Dinkar Gupta in the new panel, which had been sent to the office of state electoral officer today, which forwarded it to the EC. — TNS
