Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) authorities are at work to give a facelift to Patna Saheb station for 350th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh. The celebrations, scheduled to begin from December this year, will continue till January next year.
According to ECR's chief public relations officer (CPRO) Arvind Rajak , the Patna Saheb station will soon boast of cosy retiring rooms, spacious reservation complex, well-equipped information centre booths and well-maintained washrooms and toilets.

Anticipating a huge rush of devotees from across the globe for the occasion, the railways has also decided to set up a separate announcement system at the station, which will function round the clock.
Rajak said display boards with LED screens would be put up at strategic points to give updates on not only movement of trains but also other details related to the Prakash Parva of Guru Gobind Singh. The state government has given Rs four crore to the railways to set up information booths and improve amenities in and around Patna Saheb station, he informed TOI.
Sources, meanwhile, said the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has been assigned the task of providing facilities like ATM booths and food stalls and refurbishing the waiting halls on the first floor of Patna Saheb station.
According to the CPRO, enhanced security cover will be in place at Patna Saheb station during the monthlong celebrations. Additional deployment of Railway Protection Force will be made while CCTV cameras are already being installed. A control room will be made functional specially for ensuring foolproof security at Patna Saheb station during the celebrations.
Patna Ghat station is also being developed with the provision of an additional platform. The railways intends to run a few pairs of passenger trains between Patna Saheb and Patna Ghat to ferry devotees.
