Remembering Nida Fazli

Celebrated poet and lyricist Nida Fazli’s birthday falls today. We list some of his hit songs down the years

Tu is tarah se meri zindagi me shaamil hai

Film: Aap To Aise Na The (1980)

Singer: Mohammed Rafi

Music: Usha Khanna

When you’re in love,  you see your beloved everywhere and this feeling is beautifully brought out in this ghazal. It incidentally had three versions, one by Rafi, one by Manhar Udhas and other by Hemlata.

Chand ke paas jo sitara hai

Film: Sweekar Kiya Maine (1983)

Singers : Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar

Music: Usha Khanna

This is a poetic gem from the latter half of Kishore da’s career. How we wish he and Nida had collaborated more often.

Dil ki tanhai ko aawaz bana lete hai

Film: Chaahat (1996)

Singer: Kumar Sanu

Music: Anu Malik

This is one of Anu Malik’s lesser known gems that deserve another listening just because of the poetry packed in the lyrics.

Hosh walo ko kabar kya bekudi kya cheez hai

Film: Sarfarosh (1999)

Singer: Jagjit Singh

Music: Jatin Lalit

How true is that! Only those drunk on life would understand how to live it to the fullest.

Aa bhi ja aa bhi ja

Film: Sur - The Melody of Life (2002)

Singer: Lucky Ali

Music: MM Kreem

It’s a poet’s cry from the heart for his muse and remains one of the best songs of Lucky Ali’s career.
