The right wing outfit and an arm of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has reiterated its long-standing demand to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to construct Ram Mandir (Ram Temple) in Ayodhya after Modi visited Lucknow on Dusshera.
Senior VHP Praveen Togadia said on Wednesday, “If you are chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ then build the temple also.” The VHP leader’s statement came in the backdrop of PM Modi’s Lucknow visit on Dusshera occasion.
In Lucknow, Modi started and concluded his speech with the slogan of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ that prompted Togadia to raise the temple issue again.
The Ram temple matter is presently sub-judice hence, neither government nor BJP make any comment on the issue but is again holding it as a key issue for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls and even for General Elections 2019, though the demand is not new.
In 90s BJP had kicked off its election campaign with the key agenda of construction of Ram mandir in Ayodhya that worked and put the saffron party in corridors of power. Now, BJP’s adjoining outfits seeing the issue as magic wand.
However, people are focusing on other issues and India–Pakistan ties are on the top list of them but somewhere Ram Mandir issue is piercing through their hearts.
