PCB seeks to censure BCCI president Anurag Thakur

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) delegation, which is set to attend the ICC’s Executive Board meeting in Cape Town this week, will seek to censure the BCCI president Anurag Thakur for his recent comments on Indo-Pak cricketing ties. PCB former chairman Najam Sethi said he would give a tough answer to Indian officials but insisted that he would stick to PCB policy of keeping apart cricket and politics.

ISL: ATK hold 10-man Mumbai to 1-1 draw 

A 10-man Mumbai City FC moved to the top of the table with a point against Atletico de Kolkata after a 1-1 draw in the ISL encounter. Mumbai’s Matias Defederico scored in the 27th minute but the home side were jolted when midfielder Pronay Halder was sent after being shown two yellow cards. Kolkata scored in the 82nd minute through Javier Lara.

A fabulous knock by opener Parvesh Dahiya (72; 65b, 1x6, 9x4) and a match-winning spell of medium pace bowling by Shubham Dahiya (4/48) enabled Swami Shardanand College beat Haryana Cricket Academy by 42 runs to clinch the 26th All-India Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the St. Stephens ground.

India’s poor run in the BRICS 

U-17 football tournament continued as they slumped to their third successive defeat, losing 0-1 to China at the Athletic Stadium. An injury time goal by Huang Cong helped China score their first win in the tournament and get the better of the hosts. Having lost all the three matches so far, India are lying at the bottom of the Group with zero points, while China have four points. India will play their last league match against Brazil.

Court condemns Russia over Kasparov interrogation

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) condemned Russia for detaining Garry Kasparov ahead of an opposition rally in 2007. The case dates to May 18, 2007, when Kasparov was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, where he was to board a flight to Samara, western Russia, to attend a rally. — Agencies
