Rawat meets slain Dalit’s family

DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Harish Rawat today reached the Bageshwar residence of deceased Dalit Sohan Ram, who was beheaded by an upper caste person some days back.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat today reached the Bageshwar residence of deceased Dalit Sohan Ram, who was beheaded by an upper caste person some days back.

Expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, Harish Rawat met the parents and wife of the victim and assured all support for the family. He handed over a cheque of Rs 5, 62,500 from the Social Welfare Department and also another cheque of Rs 5, 00,000 from the state government to the family.

The Chief Minister directed for opening of an aganwadi centre and announced appointment of deceased Sohan Ram’s wife in this new aganwadi centre. He also assured the family that the state government would take full care of the education of children of the deceased. He also called upon all sections of the society to stand with the deceased family in their hour of grief.

Kapkot MLA Lalit Faraswan, district panchayat president Harish, District Magistrate Bhupal Singh Manral and senior officials were present on the occasion.
