Take Note: Shubhkarman Bal

If there’s one word that Shubhkarman Bal hasn’t been able to bond well with, it is ‘urgency’. For, this artiste has been writing Punjabi songs for almost five years now, but never took a hasty decision of selling them!

And today, he pulls out one of the songs, Kabza from his huge collection, makes a music video done, does some hand and leg shake and readies it for a worldwide release— Kabza by Shubhkarman Bal, his debut Punjabi single tract that has been shot by Frame Singh.

“I have been working on Kabza for the last three years, it is finally happening now,” says Bal, a great fan of Gurdas Maan, Babbu Mann and Gulzar. In fact, it is one of Gulzar’s interviews that inspired him to write. Bal, who comes from Ramidi, Kapurthala, Punjab was listening to Gulzar’s interview, which made him pick up the pen and paper immediately (not literally though).

“I like to weave words, I like the fact that each word comes with a history, each word feels so alive,” philosophises Bal, a writer, music composer and singer, who finds himself settled in the world of words.

“I haven’t demarcated themes to write on. I write about everything under the sun, but yes, I need to feel it first.” It is his feelings actually that gave birth to Kabza. “We were dealing with the issue on kabza on our land, which promoted me to write a song on it,” he says as a matter of fact.

With just a few days left for the release of his single, Bal still seems to be in no hurry to spread the word. “I have given my best to Kabza, this is a song soaked with feelings, baked in the oven of hard work, and I am sure people will like it,” the singer sounds confident.

Soon, Bal will be joining the family of Punjabi singers, something he is looking forward to. However, there is one thing that he is absolutely confident about. “I won’t be selling my songs to anyone. I would sing all of them. In fact, I have such a wide collection of my songs that I can sing them for coming three years at a stretch,” he flashes his ‘I mean it’ smile!
