KYIV. Oct 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mykhailo Makarov, who was elected the new president of the Figure Skating Federation on August 25, rejects accusations of "raider seizure" by the previous president Yevhen Larin, who considers himself the legitimate president of the Ukrainian Federation of Figure Skating (UFFK), and promises transparency in its work. "There was no transferring of cases after the conference. We have sent an appeal to Mr. Larin to transmit all available documentation. I do not know, fortunately or not, but the federation doesn’t have tangible assets. I am telling you this so that no one has the impression that there has been some kind of 'raider attack' or other nonsense. Nothing was done in response to the request to transfer some accounting staff, accounts, accounting management, etc. But in the end, it's not so awful, all can be started from the very beginning," Makarov said at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Tuesday. Makarov said he is comfortable with Larin's appeal to the court. "We have a democratic country and everyone has the right to defend their interests. And if the majority federation members came to the conference and voted, then, I think, the truth is on our side. Moreover, a few days ago, the International Skating Union (ISU) fully recognized our conference and all the changes that have taken place. I do not see any problems today," he said. The new head of the federation said there are "no prizes and medals" in his biography. He said he favors openness and respect for members of the federation, ensuring of the right to be elected to any federation control bodies. He also promised to report regularly about the activities of the federation to the public. . Member of the Presidium of the Figure Skating Federation, first president of UFFK Liudmyla Mykhailovska, said that sponsors have been found since new management took over. "They love figure skating and want to invest money in it," she said. Assistance was rendered to the first dance couple Oleksandra Nazarova/Maksym Nikitin, who are developing their skills in the U.S. now with the help of famous ice coach Igor Shpilband. "Our young skaters were assisted in inventory purchasing and costumes sewing," Mykhailovska said. Chief National Figure Skating Coach of Ukraine Maryna Amirkhanova said the main task for today is implementing training plans for athletes training for the 23rd Olympics. "We don't have much time, just half a year, and we must make every effort now to ensure that our skaters will win Olympic licenses this year. This is a very difficult task, but it is a fundamental one," Amirkhanova said.
