Rly cop traces commuter to return laptop
Additional sessions judge Nakeeran had left behind his laptop and phone in his chamber while hearing a case in the court room in Tiruvallur district.
Navi Mumbai: Rajaram Mane, assistant sub-inspector with the Panvel GRP, went the extra mile to trace the owner of an Apple laptop worth Rs 45,000 and returned it to him. The commuter had forgotten his laptop in a CST-Panvel train on Tuesday morning.
A mobile number written with a pencil on the cheque book inside the laptop bag helped the cop to convey a message to the laptop owner, Kensuk Jain (27).
He had come to Mumbai from Rajasthan to meet his cousin at Sanpada. Jain boarded the Andheri-Panvel train from Bandra station. In a hurry, he forgot his laptop bag on the luggage rack. He later returned to Sanpada station and informed the announcer, who advised him to lodge a complaint with the railway helpline number.
ASI Mane said, “I boarded the train at Chembur station at 8.27 am. I saw a back pack on the luggage rack. As nobody claimed or enquired about the bag, I took the bag along and deposited it at the Panvel outpost.”
