Plans in for Friar Gate serviced apartments

Plans have been lodged to convert an 18th century building on Derby's Friar Gate into serviced apartments.

Number 62 Friar Gate is grade II-listed and is currently vacant, although it was previously used as office space.

Under the proposals, the upper floors of the building will be converted into three serviced apartments, which will not be permanently staffed and will have no communal area.

A statement prepared by Gaskell, which prepared the plans on behalf of applicant Manjas Lidder, said the properties could be used by large employers in Derby to provide additional staff accommodation, as well as providing space for those who require short-term housing.

The application is now under consideration by planners from Derby City Council.
