Drunk driver crashes into patrol car of DCP traffic

SG Road, the racing zone of the city's fast cars, witnessed an accident in which an inebriated car driver hit the car of DCP (traffic), Sudhir Desai. Desai was on patrol at 5.30 am on Monday.

AHMEDABAD: SG Road, the racing zone of the city's fast cars, witnessed an accident in which an inebriated car driver hit the car of DCP (traffic), Sudhir Desai. Desai was on patrol at 5.30 am on Monday.
A-Division traffic police officials caught the 26year-old car driver after the driver of the government car carrying the DCP registered a complaint claiming Rs 70,000 damage for losses to the vehicle.

As per A-Division traffic police, Mukesh Kharadi, a resident of Madhavpura police line drives the official car of DCP (traffic). He has registered a complaint against Nikunj Panchal, 26, a resident of Manmohan Apartment in Keshavnagar near Subhash Bridge, for the accident. “According to his complaint, the accident took place near Kargil petrol pump. Panchal was returning from a garba function and lost control. As the government vehicle was going ahead, Panchal's car hit it. Investigators said Desai or others have not sustained any major injury in the accident.
A-Division traffic police have nabbed Panchal and have charged him for drunken driving.

He is unconscious since Sunday evening, said investigators. According to A-Division traffic police, Ghanshyam Suthar, a resident of Himmatnagar, had come to the city to be part of Navratri festivities and had borrowed a friend's bike. When he was moving from Rajpath Club area to Pakwan crossroads at 7.15 pm, he hit Mela Rabari, 23, a resident of Radhanpur.“Primary investigation shows that Rabari had a decoration contract at Rajpath Club and was crossing the road for a chore, when Suthar`s bike came from a diagonally opposite direction and hit him.Head and body injuries proved to be fatal and Rabari was declared dead when taken to the Sola Civil Hospital. Suthar, who lives here with a relative, is still unconscious,“ said an investigator. Sources said that the bike involved in the incident was a high-powered sports bike.
