The Akhil Bharatiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) would resume its pro-reservation peaceful agitation across Haryana in November.

The samiti’s executive council took the decision at a meeting in Rohtak four days ago. Besides Haryana, protests would be held in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, said samiti national president Yashpal Malik. “We will organise rallies against the BJP-led NDA government in Jat-dominated constituencies,” he said.

In Haryana, the protests would initially be organised at one location in each district, said samiti’s district president Capt Bhupinder Singh (retd). “We have given the state government time till August 31 to meet our demands, including cancellation of the cases registered against Jat youth during the February agitation and release of those behind bars,” he said.

Capt Bhupinder said the protest in Jind district would be held in Jind block and subsequently in Narwana, Julana and Pilukhera blocks. Similar protests were held in June, but were called off after 20 days following an assurance from the state government.
