Hermès Kellydoscope

Step inside a Hermès Kelly bag that’s larger than life; it’s been upsized for an interactive experience that’s now been brought to Singapore. The ‘entrance’ of this exhibit is cleverly concealed at the left edges of the gigantic bag. Upon entering, you’ll find yourself in a small viewing room where you can watch a short film inspired by the iconic bag.

Meows in Museum

Feline lovers will love the tongue-in-cheek works by artist Svetlana Petrova. The Russian artist has inserted her beloved chubby tabby Zarathustra into digital reproductions of famed paintings. A total of 21 mixed media works are on display, including her rendition of Epic Poem of Malaya by local painter Chua Mia Tee. Snap up these pieces for your own collection and for a good cause, as 10 per cent of sale proceeds will be donated to the Cat Welfare Society Singapore.

Tribal Tempo Floral Display

Catch this South African-themed floral display while it’s still on at Gardens by the Bay. Get to see the artichoke-like Proteaceae flower varieties, a striking waterfall that’s the centrepiece of this floral display, recreations of wildflower fields that bloom in Namaqualand, as well as other exotic and vibrant blooms. Deathtrap

Follow the many plot twists and turns of this Tony Award-nominated thriller comedy. The tale tells of a Broadway thriller playwright, Sidney, who suffers from a case of writer’s block while relying on his wife Myra’s personal wealth for their luxurious way of living. Soon, he decides to collaborate with a student on a new play that he thinks is destined to be a Broadway hit; then a cat-and-mouse game ensues in the struggle for control over the script.

Starring Hitler as Jekyll and Hyde

What if Hitler really had split personalities, much like in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde? This play blends fact with fiction as it retells the history of the Jewish Holocaust by imagining Hitler as Jekyll, a young painter by the day and a fanatic dictator at night. During this dark time, a police inspector tries to uncover the true identity of Hitler, in an attempt to stop the genocide.

Watch this newest stage adaptation of Malaysian playwright Leow Puay Tin’s Family, in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Through a series of vignettes, the play tells of a rags to riches story of a Chinese immigrant family, as led by matriarch Mrs Yang. Featuring 34 characters spread across four generations, Family is a sprawling tale of kinship, memory and mortality.

da:ns festival 2016

Admire the grace, dexterity and the emotional directness of choreographed moves, as you fall in love with dance all over again at this festival. Highlights include Voces, suite flamenca, which features energetic flamenco footwork of Spain’s most beloved flamenco star Sara Baras as well as the poetic Nelken (Carnations), which sees a troupe of dancers enact a series of stories amongst a meadow of pink carnations.
