New grading system to keep cops on toes

New grading system to keep cops on toes
Ghaziabad: The city's police force has introduced a new monthly appraisal system to record and compare the performances of all the police stations and police posts on the basis of effective crime prevention and retribution.
Salmantaj Patil, SP (city), Ghaziabad, who has devised the grading system, said the police stations and posts will be judged on 11 different parameters. For instance, catching a gangster will earn a police station or post five points.

Similarly, a case of a theft, robbery or snatching, will invite negative marking for cops. And the subsequent aggregate of marks earned and lost will determine the performance and rank of a police station or post.
“The preventive action of police will be awarded with positive marks under the system. If a gangster has done something wrong and the trial happens under Section 110 of CrPC or a robbery case has been solved, then a police station will be awarded positive marks," Patil told TOI on Saturday.
Officials said that police stations that will grab the first and the second positions will be rewarded every month. Similarly, the last two police stations on the list will be warned to pull up their socks. If a police station continues to remain stagnant at a lower rank for the second month in a row, then the SSP will be intimated about the performance. However, a third occurrence will mean a possible transfer of the SHO of the respective police station.
As per the performance analysis in September, Sihani Gate police station leads the list, followed by Vijaynagar police station and Sahibabad police station. However, the Kavinagar police station and Linkroad police station are on the bottom of the appraisal chart.
