Combing operation: Suspects arrested, hate material seized

Sukkur SSP Amjad Ahmed Shaikh confirmed the arrests and said the operation is ongoing

SUKKUR: Police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials raided various religious seminaries in New Pind, Sukkur in a joint operation on Sunday and seized hate publications and arrested several suspects for questioning.

On Sunday, a heavy contingent of police and CTD officials raided a number of religious seminaries in Brohi Muhalla, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and other areas. During the extensive search operation hate publications were found and suspects were arrested, including Hakim Ali Brohi, a teacher and resident of Lakhi Ghulam Shah. The arrested suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location for questioning.

New Pind, the most populous area of Sukkur, hosts numerous seminaries. Brohi belongs to district Shikarpur and most of the suspects, arrested for their alleged involvement in the Shikarpur bombing, belong to the Brohi community. Sukkur SSP Amjad Ahmed Shaikh confirmed the arrests and said the operation is ongoing and all the suspects are being interrogated, the outcome of which will be shared with the media soon.
