Ketan Mehta: We have prevented a cultural erosion
Indian animation production and television content has undergone a sea change in recent years, and some credit for that must go to Cosmos-Maya, the studio behind the popular animation tele-series 'Motu Patlu'. Known for their shows that cater to young viewers, the company has produced 'Motu Patlu ' King of Kings', following the success of these characters on TV. Ketan Mehta, the founder and managing director of the studio and the producer of the film, says, 'After watching hand-me-down content from different parts of the world, our kids are now getting to watch home-grown animated content like 'Motu Patlu'.
We've prevented a cultural erosion.'
Anish Mehta, the CEO of the company and also a producer on the film, asserts, 'It's difficult to survive in the animation business. We have struck a balance between creativity and commerce.' Deepa Sahi, also a co-producer, says, 'We produce 25-26 half-hour episodes of animation content a month and are favoured by most channels, which we're happy about. Our film is an entertainer with a strong message.'
'Motu Patlu ' King of Kings' releases on October 14.
