Goods train derailed in Rayagada

Four wagons of a goods train derailed between Bhalumuska and Sikarpai stations in Koraput-Rayagada railway section in Rayagada district on Sunday evening. The train, which was coming to Damanjodi station, derailed at around 7.45pm.

BHUBANESWAR: Four wagons of a goods train derailed between Bhalumuska and Sikarpai stations in Koraput-Rayagada railway section in Rayagada district on Sunday evening. The train, which was coming to Damanjodi station, derailed at around 7.45pm.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said nobody was hurt in the accident. Due to the derailment, two passenger trains, Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express and Koraput-Rourkela Express, were stranded at Tikiri and Bhalumuska station respectively.
Hirakhand Express was short terminated at Rauli station and returned to Jagadalpur.
Similarly, Koraput-Rourkela Express was short-terminated at Bhalumuska and returned to Koraput.
Mechanical team and railway engineers reached the spot to fix the problem. The railway staff has started clearing the Rayagada-Koraput route by disconnecting the derailed wagons from the goods train, ECoR sources said.
