KOZHIKODE: While attempts are being made to divide the Hindu-Muslim communities from various quarters, the Sunnis Students Federation (SSF) is organising a meet to celebrate interfaith harmony. The meeting titled “Mamburam Thangalum Konthu Nairum' will be held at Thalappara in Malappuram district on Sunday .
Assembly Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan, minister for local self government K T Jaleel, minister for ports Ramachandran Kadannappally , sunni leader Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musaliyar and others will attend vario us sessions at the meeting.

The SSF , the student wing of the Kanthapuram faction of the Sunnis, began the campaign “Manava Sanghamam' after reports about Malayalee youth joining the Islamic State and a section of Sa lafis preaching against pluralism surfaced in the media. The SSF believes these developments have dented the religious harmony which existed in Kerala for centuries.
Mamburam Thangal, the revered Sufi leader in Ke rala, had Konthu Nair, a Hin du, as his close confidante.
The friendship between Mangattachan, the prime minister of Zamorin, and Kunjayan Musaliyar is also a well-known fact in Malabar history . The SSF wants to reiterate these kinds of interfaith friendships when some preachers argue that Muslims cannot have emotional bonding with non-Muslims.
