Glenn Maxwell, Rob Quiney pull off amazing catch as Victoria lose to WA in Matador Cup

Hit for six? No worries. So long as you have Glenn Maxwell on your team.

It was surely with a sigh of relief that Bushrangers bowler Jon Holland watched Maxwell and Rob Quiney pull off a brilliant, acrobatic catch against WA in the Matador Cup in Perth on Saturday.

WA batsman D'Arcy Short's huge lofted shot was well on its way over the rope, before Maxwell stepped in, saved six, and set up a catch for Quiney.

Having positioned himself right on the rope, Maxwell steadied, waited and then arched way back over the line, grabbing the ball and tossing it back to his teammate, all while falling backwards over the rope.

It was a display of athleticism and quick-thinking from Maxwell, and also from Quiney, who was no slouch with his reaction time.

Commentator Ian Chappell described it as "a brilliant bit of fielding" as Short headed off the ground.

But with the match shortened due to the wet conditions at the WACA, it was the WA bowlers who had the last laugh.

After a delayed start due to bad weather, the Warriors made 6-190 off 28 overs before rain cut short their outing with the bat.

Victoria could only manage 9-98 off 18 overs in reply.

Michael Klinger top-scored with 87, while Shaun Marsh returned from the finger injury that kept him out of Australia's touring team in South Africa.

The Warriors also took a bonus point from the win.
