Trailer in Hazira kills pregnant woman, daughter

SURAT: A 30-year-old pregnant woman and her one-year-old daughter riding pillion on a motorcycle were crushed to death under the wheels of a trailer in Hazira near the city on Saturday. The woman's husband Narayan, 35, who was riding the motorcycle, and their three-year-old daughter Sonam survived the accident.
Sunita Pancholi and her daughter Sachi succumbed to their injuries.They were near Reliance Industries' gate when the steel-laden trailer hit their motorcycle. Narayan lived in Mora village near Hazira with his family. He was employed as a machine operator at Reliance Industries. He was going out with his family on the bike when the accident happened.
Police arrested trailer driver Kailash Ram, 28, who is a resident of Ahmedabad, from the spot. The accused told the police that he lost control over his vehicle. "The accused driver has been arrested and investigation begun in the case," said M M Diwan, police inspector, Hazira.
