BUK lecturer kidnapped
Abductors Demand N1.5m
Unknown abductors have kidnapped Mal. Saminu Aliyu Kiri, a lecturer in the Computer Science Department of Bayero University Kano.He was abducted on Thursday, along the Birnin Gwari Road, Kaduna State, while returning from an official assignment.
Confirming the development, Prof. Ibrahim Magaji Barde, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Bayero University chapter, told The Guardian on telephone that Kiri was kidnapped, while returning from Oyo State, where he went to supervise students on industrial training.
Barde said: “He went to supervise his students who were on SIWES. We learnt the public bus they boarded from Oyo got broken down at that spot and in the process of fixing it, their abductors bombarded them and went away with all of them at about 4pm.”Prof. Barde explained that the kidnappers had already contacted the family of Mal. Saminu, demanding N1.5m ransom.
