Report on Rohit’s suicide not fair: YSRCP

Hyderabad, Oct 8 (UNI) YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has taken strong exception to the clean chit given to Union Ministers in the Research Scholar Rohit Vemula's suicide case as reported in a section of press, as the one-man Commission Report has tried to devote more time to absolve the people in power, University authorities or those who are close to people in power besides trying to find out the caste of the victim.
Talking to newsmen here today, YSRCP spokesperson Arun Kumar said ‘The Justice Roopanwal Commission Report, which was submitted to the HRD ministry, tried to find out whether or not Rohit was a dalit which is not within its purview but should be certified by the Revenue Department of Andhra Pradesh government and has given a clean chit to Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya and Smriti Irani.’
The Commission tried to shield the University of Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile, who is close to the people in power and ignored the fact that Rohit Vemula was subjected to social discrimination as was evident from his letters and suicide note, he said.
