JAIPUR: Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested two sharp shooters of Raju Theth gang from a restaurant in Mahesh Nagar area on late Thursday night.
According to Umesh Mishra, additional director general, ATS and SOG, the two teams of the ATS arrested Bhanwar Lal Chapra and Manoj Ola, and recovered four fake identification cards.
"Bhanwar Lal Chapra is the right hand man of Raju Theth. He was the prime conspirator in the killing of Balbir Banuda inside Bikaner Jail in 2014," Mishra told reporters during a press meet at ATS headquarters on Friday.
In September 2014, Raju Theth's rival and fugitive criminal Anandpal Singh was lodged in Bikaner Central Jail.
Teth and his associates decided to eliminate Anandpal Singh and hired assailants to kill Singh.
The bloodbath that followed inside the prisons saw Singh'a accomplice Balbir Banuda being shot dead by a fellow inmate by a country made revolver. Police had claimed that murder was fallout of rivalry between dreaded criminals Anand Pal Singh from Naguar and Raju Thehat from Sikar.
Bhanwar Lal Chapra, who was carrying a prize of RS 50,000 on him, had come to Jaipur along with Manoj Ola in a white SUV. The prime reason behind their visit was to get huge cache of arms, including automatic assault guns to terrorize the coaching center owners in the city.

The duo had been staying at the top floor of a restaurant in Mahesh Nagar area of the city. The police have also taken the owner of the restaurant into custody. The ATS and SOG teams led by SP Vikas Kumar had been looking for the duo for past three months. Different teams were sent to several different districts of the state to gather information on the two. "Our teams in Jhunjhunu and Sikar made a major breakthrough in the investigation and collected information related to Chapra and Ola's SUV, and there place of hiding etc. Another team kept a tight vigil on the restaurant," Kumar added.
The white SUV driven by Chapra was identified by the informer, who gave a message to the ATS surveillance team. ATS officers Rajesh and Sunil Sharma in a display of courage arrested the two after face to face confrontation with the criminals.
"While Teth is behind a high security prison, these two wanted to carry out extortions on behalf of Raju Teth. It's a major blow to organized crime in the city," Mishra added.
ATS have recovered fake voter id card, driving license, registration number from them. "An investigation will be launched to see who all were behind in making and supplying such fake id cards to the criminals," Vikas Kumar told TOI.
