Mapusa: The additional district and session judge at Mapusa sentenced serial killers, Chandrakant Talwar and Cyron Rodrigues, to life imprisonment in the case of abducting and murdering of Malati Yadav of Verna.
Under Section 302 of IPC, the accused were awarded rigorous life imprisonment and fined 10,000 and to undergo 3-year rigorous imprisonment in case of default.
Under Section 365 accused were sentenced seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined 5,000 and in default undergo two years rigorous imprisonment. Under Section 394, the accused were sentenced to undergo 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 and in default undergo two years rigorous imprisonment.
Under Section 201, the accused were sentenced to undergo seven years rigorous imprisonment and fine of 5,000 and two years rigorous imprisonment in default.
Malati Yadav was abducted from Verna, on October 12, 2009, and was strangulated to death on the way to Aldona and her burnt body was thrown near the Khorjuem bridge along the road side.
The accused have also been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment in the case of kidnapping, rape and murder of Sharmila Mandrekar of Bicholim by the Mapusa court.
