NEW DELHI: A four-year-old girl, who had gone missing from her house in west Delhi’s Khayala on Tuesday, was found by a labourer on Wednesday evening while he was returning home.
The girl’s father is an Army officer currently posted in Pathankot. Her mother had gone to meet her parents and left the girl with her aunt.
The child’s aunt told the police that she forgot to lock the door while going out to buy vegetables.
The girl stepped out of the house and forgot the way back home. She spent the night in an abandoned shanty before being found by the labourer, Vijay Kumar. He took the girl to his house in Nihal Vihar where his wife put her to sleep with her daughter.
Kumar went to Nihal Vihar police station at 7am on Thursday and told the cops about the girl. The police informed the girl’s family who took her home.
“The labourer will be given a cash reward and considered for the ‘Good Samaritan’ award of Delhi Police,” said DCP (west) Vijay Kumar.
