BJP will soon ban bhajans sung by Mohd Rafi: Raj Babbar

Days after actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was denied permission by right-wing hawks to act in a Ramlila in Muzaffarnagar, UP Congress chief Raj Babbar said on Friday the act did not bode well for the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb of UP. At this rate, it will not be long before the right-wing government at the Centre bans bhajans sung and composed by Muslim artists, he added.

Lucknow: Days after actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was denied permission by right-wing hawks to act in a Ramlila in Muzaffarnagar, UP Congress chief Raj Babbar said on Friday the act did not bode well for the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb of UP. At this rate, it will not be long before the right-wing government at the Centre bans bhajans sung and composed by Muslim artists, he added.
Speaking to reporters after flagging of Rahul Sandesh Yatra-a follow up roadshow by district Congress chiefs to further Rahul Gandhi's UP Kisan Yatra message-Babbar said, "I feel that if the current government remains in power for a few more years, it will not be long before Mohammed Rafi's "mann tadpat Hari darshan ko aaj", the music and bhajans of Naushad, Shakeel Badaun, Sahir Ludhiyanvi and Javed Akhtar will not be available to us."
Babbar also defended Rahul Gandhi's "khoon ki dalali" remarks in which the Congress vice-president had accused the BJP government of trading the sacrifices made by Army jawans for personal and political gains.
While the BJP attacked Rahul for insulting the Army, Rahul was quick to rebut the charges on Friday. In a tweet from his official handle, Rahul said, "I fully support the surgical strikes and I have said so unequivocally, but I will not support using the Army in political posters and propaganda all across the country."
In Lucknow, while party's UP in charge Ghulam Nabi Azad clarified that Rahul's words were "reported out of context", Babbar referred to the word "dalali" as a "rupak" (metaphor) for graft within the BJP. Attacking BJP president Amit Shah as the "Zila Badar and Tadipaar" (externed person) who should introspect on his own actions before casting aspersions on others, Babbar added, "Jo dalali ki baat karte hain unko pata hona chahiye ki jis goli aur golon se wo Vijay Diwas manatey hain, wo Bofors se nikle hue goli aur goley hain (guns and bombs the BJP uses to celebrate Vijay Diwas are purchased for the country through the Bofors deals struck by the Congress)."
Babbar also accused defense minister Manohar Parikkar of not acknowledging valour of four jawans from UP who were martyred during Uri attack.
