DHARWAD: Citing non-cooperation, 17 members of the Dharwad zilla panchayat have demanded the transfer of ZP CEO Sushma Godbole. Cutting across party lines, the members, including president Chaitra Shirur and vice-president Shivanand Karigar, have written to the chief minister, urging him to transfer Sushma.
The main reason they cited is that Sushma is unresponsive to the demands of elected members. They have accused her of not attending the office regularly and not heeding to their diktats.
They have complained that the development works and day-to-day administration have suffered due to her style of work.
However, sources in the ZP said that some officials and elected members were upset with the CEO as she is not succumbing to undue pressure for clearing files and was considering merit of the case. "The CEO was visiting gram panchayats and interacting with villagers directly to understand the ground reality. This has not gone well with the elected representatives as they felt that their importance was undermined. Hence, the pressure to shift her," said a source.
