CHENNAI: Four railway staff from the commercial department in Tiruchirapalli division of the Southern Railway were suspended on Thursday for their alleged involvement in a fracas with their senior divisional commercial manager Arun Thomas on Wednesday.
One of the staff is an office-bearer of Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU), the sole recognised union of the zone. The orders were issued by the chief commercial manager (CCM) Ajeet Saxena's office.
The suspended staff are Issac Johnson, V Thamaraiselvan, B Jayachandran and Syed Thajudeen Aslam.
Thomas filed a complaint with the Trichy police alleging that he was locked in his room and abused by around 25-30 staff from SRMU who barged into his room without an appointment. SRMU had been upset with periodic transfer orders and had erected banners at prominent places which showed officers as crocodiles and giants out to swallow staff.
