Bageshwar District Magistrate BS Manral and Lt Gen SM Mehta (retd), CEO, The Hans Foundation, an NGO, announced the details of the integrated village development programme for an overall development of remote villages in a function held at Kapkot, Bageshwar district, yesterday.
Lt Gen Mehta said the integrated village development programme was a unique step to provide sustainable development solutions to village clusters in the remote areas of Uttarakhand. “With the support of the state government and the district administration, we can empower long-term changes to the district,” he said. The participatory appraisal of the region commenced to collect primary information and sector-wise data involving community members spread over a stretch of 40-50 hamlets across 25-30 km.
Under phase-1 of the project, information such as energy, education, agriculture, health, water and sanitation as well as capacity building in liaison with more than 10 field partners would be collected. Bageshwar District Magistrate BS Manral assured The Hans Foundation of full support for the project.
