Neeraj Bharadwaj, who plays Chirag Modi in the long-running show 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' since its inspection, has been sitting at home for almost four months. Bharadwaj’s character was shown to have left for America with his wife, mother and younger brother. While the latter, Kokilaben’s (Rupal Patel) husband, has returned to India in the ongoing track, the fate of Chirag is still hanging in balance. Neeraj says, “My character was prominent in the beginning as I was the head of the family.
However, it has now been relegated to being just another character after the focus shifted to the women of the family. I understand that TV is predominantly an actress’ medium, but male actors should also get a share of the pie.” He is quick to add, “I am not complaining as the makers have changed the track in the best interest of the show, but as an actor you feel suffocated when something like this happens. All they need to do is inform me if they don’t need me. They could have killed me if they didn’t want the character.”
Bharadwaj has now started looking out for more work. “I am attached to the show because of my long association with it. I will inform them the minute I bag another show,” he signs off.
