Liquor spilled the beans on brutal murder of a 42-year-old woman
AHMEDABAD: It was liquor which spilled the beans on the one and half year old brutal murder of 42 year old money lender Nisha Rangvani, resident of Dhanlaxmi society in Vatva. While probing the recent killing of 72 year old Nirmala Shah, living a solitary life at BOI society in Navrangpura, Crime branch sleuths struck open a witness who tipped them Rohit Patel of Lambha once under the influence of liquor had spoken to him about murder of a woman in Vatva.

"This tip was enough for us. We went through undetected cases registered at Vatva police station and found that it was indeed Rangvani who was murdered by Patel and his associate Prakash Tiwari" said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Deepan Bhadran.
Inspector RR Sarvaiya of crime branch said Rangvani's husband used to stay away for most of the time throughout the day for work. "Rangvani also ran a money lending business from home" Sarvaiya added.
Crime branch officials said during primary interrogation of the accused it came to light that Priyanka Patel who lived in the same society nurtured grudges against Rangvani as she often used to pick up quarrels with her.
"Looking for an opportunity to settle scores Priyanka told Patel who used to frequent her house that they would get a lot of money if they rob Rangvani. Hence Patel and his accomplice Tiwari, on 2nd March 2015 approached Rangvani on the pretext of borrowing loan" said Inspector Sarvaiya.
Crime branch sources said Patel and Tiwari then caught Rangvani by her neck and dashed her against the wall killing her on the spot.
"The duo then took of the
gold chain and ear rings worn by Rangvani and not able to find anything else in her house, fled in an auto by which they had come" added a crime branch source.
Crime branch sources said after the murder both Patel and Tiwari got frightened and did not dare to sell of the jewellery robbed from Rangvani's house.
"We have recovered the original jewellery robbed from Rangvani from both the accused and handed them over to Vatva police station for further investigation" said Inspector Sarvaiya of crime branch.
