MARGAO:
Goa Forward Party (GFP) spokesperson Tanveer Khatib said that the party will declare around six candidates by the end of the month.
"We have identified 20 seats to field our candidates for the 2017 assembly elections. 10 candidates are finalized," he said, adding that
Fatorda MLA Vijai
Sardesai will contest from his current constituency, while
Jayesh Salgaonkar from Saligao.
Khatib said he would continue as spokesperson of the party but not contest next year's elections.
GFP has alleged that relieving
Damu Naik as the chairman of the
Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) was a covert operation by chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar to safeguard Naik from irregularities committed at the ESG and divert attention from the alleged corruption issue.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Khatib dared Parsekar to order an independent investigation into the irregularities and illegalities at ESG.
He also pointed out that the house committee for investigations in allegations, that was announced by former information and publicity minister Milind Naik, at a legislative assembly session last year, was never formed and the government changed Naik's portfolio instead.
