Jalandhar: Former
Congress minister Amarjit Singh
Samra and former MLA Gurbinder Singh Atwal have been issued show-cause notice by Punjab Congress president Captain
Amarinder Singh for indulging in indiscipline during the Punjab Congress Express yatra in Nakodar constituency on Monday.
The notice asked the duo why action should not be taken against them for their act.
While Samra said he was away and was not aware of the notice, Atwal confirmed that he had received the notice and he had been given a week's time to give a reply.
The clash between two leaders left the Punjab Congress embarrassed as black flags were shown and slogans were raised during the yatra by their supporters. The Yatra led by Jalandhar MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh had just reached its first stop Uggi when supporters of former minister Amarjit Singh Samra started raising slogans against former
Nurmahaal MLA Gurbinder Singh. They shouted "Atwal Go back' and also showed black flags to him. Both Samra and Atwal were accompanying the Yatra.
Supporters of Atwal also started raising slogans against Samra. It took a lot of efforts and time to control the situation. Samra, after three successive wins from Nakodar, lost the 2012 election to Gurpartap Singh Wadala of SAD and there remained a strong feeling in his camp that Atwal had damaged him in the election. Both the Congress leaders, Samra and Atwal, are aspirants of Congress ticket from Nakodar and have also applied for Jalandhar Cantt constituency.
