JAIPUR:The people of Jaipur heaved a sigh of relief from the scorching heat of the last few days as heavy to moderate rain lashed many parts of the state. According to the Met department, a cyclonic circulation persisting over Saurashtra and Kutch coupled with westerly disturbance from Afghanistan led to the unseasonal rain in the state. Met office said that rainy conditions are likely to persist for the next five days.
Regional Met office said that the south west monsoon had withdrawn from the western part of the state, i.e., Churu, Jaislamer and Phalodi, but due to the new development in other parts of state, monsoon withdrawal has been delayed by some days.

According to the Met office, rain or thunderstorm are likely at many places in east Rajasthan and at isolated places in west Rajasthan. Met office further said that light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places in Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur divisions and at isolated places in Bharatpur, Kota, Bikaner divisions on Wednesday.
In Jaipur, cloudy conditions in the morning gave way to light rains in the afternoon much to the relief to the people. However, rain caused traffic snarls and waterlogging at some places.
According to the Met office, 12.6 mm of rain was recorded in Jaipur. The maximum temperature dropped by three degrees Celsius.
However, humidity was quite high at 88%. Unseasonal rain has come as a bane for the farmers as their standing crops are likely to bear the brunt. In Jalore district, a private bus plunged into Gawai river but no casualty was reported.
Rain in Ajmer, Bhilwara and Tonk districts has left farmers dejected as it destroyed standing crops which were ready to harvest.

Heavy loss of crops was reported from these three districts. Farmers are calculating the losses and trying to save the leftover crops.
Lightning claimed the life of a youth in Tonk district and two people sustained severe burns on Tuesday night. District administration announced Rs 4 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased.
"The major problem with farmers is that they do not have storehouses to keep their harvested crops due to which they leave the crops in the open," said an official.
In Tonk district, rains started on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday.
Lightning killed a youth in Bhanwar Khiol village killed Bhramdev (18) died on Tuesday late evening. His parents also burnt badly in this incident. District administration announced four lakh rupees compensation to the family of the deceased. Here mostly crops of fodder, vegetables and pulses were destroyed.
