Citizen acquitted in drone use to smuggle drugs – 88 arrested in Ahmadi security campaigns

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Detention Renewal Judge ordered the release of a citizen accused of smuggling drugs into the Central Jail by using a wireless plane on bail of KD 200. Attorney Talal Al-Anzi, who represented the accused, argued that there is no justification for subjecting his client to precautionary detention as he is not expected to run away from his country.

He also pointed out that the accused has no previous criminal record. Case files indicate the accused and his Bedoun accomplice attempted to smuggle drugs into the Central Jail but a securityman assigned at the jail intercepted the illegal operation and seized the drugs.

The Public Relations and Security Media General Department in the Interior Ministry said in a press release earlier that the General Criminal Investigations Department, in cooperation with the Criminal Evidence Department, arrested two individuals who used a wireless plane to smuggle drugs into the prison.

88 arrested: Ahmadi Security Directorate held a number of security campaigns in several locations within Ahmadi Governorate during which 88 violators of law were arrested, 48 traffic citations were issued and four vehicles were seized, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that the campaigns were held in Thaher, Riqqa, Mangaf, Sabah Al- Ahmad, Jaber Al-Ali, Khairan, Mahboula and Abu Halifa areas based on directives of Ahmadi Security Director Brigadier Abdullah Safa.

The arrested individuals were involved in a number of violations such involvement in financial and criminal cases, possession of expired residence permits, beggary, etc. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The department affirmed that such security campaigns will be held in all six governorates to arrest the violators of law and ensure the security and safety of the country and its people
