Anyone travelling to the Kempegowda International Airport this week cannot miss the burst of colour, dance and music there. The airport is celebrating the nine-day Dasara festival by showcasing the varied art forms of South India. The second edition of the celebrations is a blend of spirituality, culture and unity.

Held in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka, the festival offers a platform for artistes to showcase the culture and tradition of our region, with performances like Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Kathak, theatre and various drama forms, including Yakshagana.
Till October 9, passengers will get to witness all this and more from 6 am to 8 pm. There will also be tableaux doing the rounds of the airport today between 10 am and 6 pm with Dollu Kunitha and other dances. Another big draw at the festivities — which will be an annual feature — is the 13.5 foot replica of the Dasara Jamboo Savaari procession in Mysuru. Everyone is welcomed to witness the celebrations and there is no fee charged. The event has already received positive response from the nearly 61,000 passengers who use the airport daily.
