2 charged in Connecticut brick-throwing death
Anthony Martinez, Mari Vargas charged with murder
Police in Bridgeport, Connecticut, have arrested two people in connection with the death of a 41-year-old man who was struck and killed by a thrown brick.
The Connecticut Post reported that 33-year-old Anthony Martinez and 41-year-old Mari Vargas were both charged with first-degree murder in the July 16 death of Edy Morales.
Investigators said Martinez and Vargas were among a group of people on Jane Street that threw objects at a Jeep Cherokee.
A brick smashed through the front passenger side window of the Jeep and struck Morales in the head.
After having trouble breathing, Morales was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead.
Police said the suspects were identified on surveillance video and, when questioned, told detectives that the occupants of the vehicle had been disrespectful to them.
