Pondy CM inaugurates work to lay pipes near Nellithoppe

Puducherry, Oct 5 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayansamy today inaugurated the Rs 2.37 crore pipe laying work at the Subbiah statue, Nellithoppe here to prevent water stagnation in Orleanpet and Nellithoppe constituencies here.
Hitherto, the people of Nellithoppe and Orleanpet will have to bear the brunt of water stagnation during the rainy season and in order to put an end to this menace, the administration had evolved a strategy to lay pipes.
The pipes being layed in the drainage near the Subbah statue here would help rain water drain instantly.The rain water collected in the area would be led to the Ouppanaar main drain through the pipes laid on the Maramalai Adigal Saalai,official sources here said.
