Civic nod for Balasaheb Thackeray statue in Colaba

MUMBAI: A proposal by civic standing committee chairman Yashodhar Phanse to instal a statue of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray at a traffic island in Colaba received a nod at the civic group leaders meeting held on Tuesday.
The Thackeray statue is expected to come up before the civic elections to be held in February 2017. “The statue will come up opposite Regal Cinema in Colaba.The area is a prominent spot as several tourists as well as Mumbaikars frequent it regularly,” said Phanse.
