Heavy rains lash Saurashtra, man swept away near Morbi

Many parts of Saurashtra received moderate to heavy rains on Monday taking people by surprise.

RAJKOT: parts of Saurashtra received moderate to heavy rains on Monday taking people by surprise.
According to district flood control room officials, rains occurred in Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Morbi, Junagadh, Gir-Somnath and Amreli.
Babra received highest rainfall with 70mm in just three hours on Monday.
Major rainfall was recorded in Lathi (34mm), Sayla (32mm), Jesar (33mm), Gadhda (24mm), Dhoraji (50mm), Palitana (41mm) and Botad (30mm).

Rajkot city received moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon. The eastern parts of Rajkot city received 50mm rains in just three hours.
Meanwhile, a person has gone missing after he got swept in flood waters while crossing river with two other persons from his village Kherva in Wankaner taluka of Morbi. The missing person was identified as Sajubha Zala. The search operation was underway to find Zala. In another incident, three persons drowned in Narmada canal in Nandasar village in Rapar taluka of Kutch district on Monday morning.
