Producers of local products should be innovative, and make their goods more attractive and different from others' to add to their value, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday morning.

The prime minister said this while viewing local products to be displayed at the fair to be held from Oct 5-25, before attending Tuesday's regular cabinet meeting. He was accompanied by Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and Deputy Transport Minister Omsin Chivapruck.

The items included all kinds of Thai sweets and one-tambon-one-product (Otop) goods. Cut-priced air, train, bus and boat tickets will also be on sale during the fair.

"We have to think about what to do to make our products more attractive. Don't think that consumers do not pay attention on this matter. There must be innovations and competitiveness, to create a selling-point," Gen Prayut told attendants at various booths set up at Government House.

"Do you have anything to eat that can stop me getting angry? Whenever I become angry, I always throw questions at these people," said the prime minister, pointing to a group of reporters.

The prime minister appeared moody before attending the cabinet meeting, reporters agreed.
