CHENNAI: A 38-year-old man employed at a star hotel on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai drowned in a swimming pool at a farm house on ECR on Sunday . He was attending a get-together party there.
Witnesses told the police that the deceased, identified as
Michael Raj, walked towards the swimming pool in a drunken state and jumped in. The other staffers didn't notice him falling into the pool and searched for him only much later.
They pulled Raj out and he was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital.
Doctors examined him and declared him dead on arrival. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy . The
Neelankarai police registered a case under the CrPC Section 174 (unnatural death).
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Raj worked at a star hotel in Mylapore. Police personnel are inquiring if there is any foul play in his death.
Police personnel have collected the
CCTV camera footage from the farm house to check if he was pushed into the pool or it was an accident. Further investigations are on.
