Pak does not have guts for immediate retaliation, says AMU VC
AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen Zameeruddin Shah
AGRA: Terming the recent surgical strikes by the army in POK as a "right step" by India, AMU vice chancellor, Lt. Gen Zameeruddin Shah, who fought the Longewala battle in Jaisalmer Sector in 1971, said that Pakistan does not have the guts for an immediate retaliation.
Talking to media, the VC said as per his assessment, Pakistan would wait for a few months before thinking of retaliating in any manner and there was no immediate threat from it.
He said, “If I get a chance, I would once again wear my boots and fight the Pakistanis at the border”. He said he owed everything to the army and would love to serve it any manner.
Castigating Pakistan for supporting terrorists, Shah said no “"self respecting" nation would allow its soil to be used by those who kill innocent people in the name of religion or any other misplaced cause. He said the government had taken a right and a legitimate step to hit their launch pads of such terrorists across the LOC. “This should be a lesson to the powers that are propagating and supporting them”, he said.
Advocating review of the hikes given to the armed forces by the 7th Pay Commission, Shah said the government should take all steps to ensure that the forces do not feel neglected due to any disparity. He also said the government should take all necessary steps to arm the soldiers with the latest firepower, even of the DRDO is not manufacturing it. “The government should import them and fulfill the gaps in weaponry requirements”, he said.
