Youth invites foe to peace talks, kills him

A 26-year-old youth, Mahesh Thakor, alias Malo, resident of Thakorvaas, Vasna, was stabbed to death by two assailants, early on Sunday morning. He had been called by a rival to a peace meeting, and then killed. His body was found in front of Brahmani Mata temple opposite GB Shah college, Vasna.

AHMEDABAD: A 26-year-old youth, Mahesh Thakor, alias Malo, resident of Thakorvaas, Vasna, was stabbed to death by two assailants, early on Sunday morning. He had been called by a rival to a peace meeting, and then killed. His body was found in front of Brahmani Mata temple opposite GB Shah college, Vasna.
Police say according to the version given by eyewitness Purav Chauhan, a friend of the victim, Pinkal Patel, a resident of Vasna had called up Thakor at about 12:30 midnight to meet him near Ayappa temple and put an end to their enmity stemming from a previous scuffle.

Thakor went to the spot with Chauhan to find Pinkal, his friend Tino, and Pinkal's cousin Dishant waiting. At about 1:30 am, Pinkal and Tino left, while an unknown person came and joined Dishant.
Then Dishant started and altercation, and along with the other person stabbed Mahesh to death.When Chauhan tried to intervene, they threatened to attack him.
Police is still to identify the assailant, after whose arrival at the spot, the murder took place, said a Vejalpur police official.
Vejalpur police said Manish Thakor, cousin of the victim Mahesh, registered the murder complaint. According to Manish, who is associated with the construction business, Mahesh's wife Isha called him up at about 2 am on Sunday and told him that Mahesh was in trouble.
“Manish reached the spot in front of Brahmani Mata temple opposite GB Shah College to find a crowd gathered and Mahesh lying in a pool of blood.Medical staff called in declared him dead. Manish learned from Mahesh's friend Purav Chauhan what had taken place,“ said a Vejalpur police official.
Inspector A V Patel, who is in charge of the case could not be contacted for comments despite repeated attempts.
