AHMEDABAD: A 70-year-old man died and 15 others sustained minor injuries when a private mini bus, plying between
Sayla in
Surendranagar district and Ahmedabad, overturned near
Chharodi on Sunday morning.
Police said that the man's death was caused not by injuries but shock.
According to Sanand GIDC police, a private bus operator runs a service between towns in Surendranagar and Ahmedabad.
When the bus was passing by Chharodi at 11.30 am, a cow suddenly came in its way. To prevent collision, the driver tried to turn the bus sharply, following which the vehicle overturned.
“According to a complaint by
Champa Sadhu, her husband Manohardas died in the incident. The postmortem report revealed that he had not sustained injuries, but the shock might have caused his death. Teams of EMRI 108 provided treatment to around 15 persons.However, nobody had to be hospitalized,“ said a police official.
In another incident, EMRI 108 had reported five persons injured near
Dediyasan village in Ahmedabad district, around 10 kilometres from Viramgam, when a van overturned while avoiding collision. The injured were taken to Viramgam for treatment.
