Jat stir: Cops punished for negligence

ROHTAK: The police have punished police officials who had been found guilty of negligence/dereliction of duty during the violent agitation for grant of reservation to Jats in February.

The police have punished police officials who had been found guilty of negligence/dereliction of duty during the violent agitation for grant of reservation to Jats in February.

A inquiry had indicted Sub-Inspector Dharambir Singh for not making efforts to protect an ambulance at Meham police station during the Jat agitation. The ambulance was burnt by the agitators. SI Dharambir Singh’s five increments have been stopped.

Constable Ashok Kumar was posted as the driver of Police Rider-vehicle No.3. During the agitation, he was directed to report at the Police Lines. However, he parked his rider-vehicle at Gaukaran police post instead of taking it to the Police Lines.

The rider-vehicle was burnt by the agitators. Constable Ashok Kumar was found guilty of negligence. His five increments have been stopped.

Constable Kuldeep, women head constables Papita Devi and Manju Lata and constables Anni Devi, Sonia and Kavita, who were posted at the women’s police station, were deployed with Company C to maintain law and order. However, the cops were found absent from duty.

SSP Rakesh Arya said the cases of police officials acquitted in the inquiry had been filed.
