Over $15,000 was collected during the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort Animal Fiji welfare fundraising golf on Yanuca Island, Coral Coast yesterday.

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa general manager Craig Powell said the tournament was for animal welfare in the country.

“We want to support a worthy cause as they don’t get any sort of funding at all but rely on sponsors and private donors for the great work they are doing,” he said.

“This tournament was not possible without the sponsors and the staff who have worked hard to stage this one day event.”

The two-man Ambrose, six clubs only and best ball golf tournament charity fundraiser attracted 80 players.

Animal Fiji co-founder and managing trustee Casey Quimby said the event is organised by Shangri-La’s to care for their expansion nationwide.

“The team at Shangri-La put together this tournament for Animal Fiji and we hope to have this event once a year,” she said.

Quimby thanked their host sponsor and organiser Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa on Yanuca Island for putting up a grand event.
