Lucknow: Keeping in mind the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh early next year, PM Narendra Modi will launch the Prime Minister's Farm Irrigation Scheme from Bundelkhand on October 14.
The scheme is a follow-up to the Ujjwala scheme of free LPG connection to underprivileged women.
The public address by the PM for the date is almost ready, a senior BJP leader told TOI, adding that besides the irrigation scheme, issues related to farmers in UP will also be taken up.

The venue of the Bundelkhand event could be Mahoba, Banda or Jhansi, said the source. The party is working to ensure participation of at least 1 lakh people at the event.
Bundelkhand is crucial for the BJP which eyes to gain power in UP post 2017 election. There are around 20 assembly seats in the region that have been battling drought for years. Dalit populated Bundelkhand is considered a stronghold of the Bahujan Samaj Party, which is looking at a comeback in assembly election 2017 by dislodging the ruling Samajwadi Party.
BJP is planning at least one rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to showcase the "development agenda" of Centre every month from October onwards and gradually increasing the number as election approaches, said a party source.
